The goal of this workshop is to help participants understand the importance of having a trauma-informed lens when serving pregnant women in their decision-making process.

This workshop will provide tips to medical professionals to offer ultrasound with a spiritually focused approach and optimize the experience for the client. We will focus on scanning techniques that hold the client’s attention, case studies, and how to define the success of your work. Whether you are new to ultrasound or are wanting to refine your approach, we will explore ways to successfully introduce moms to their babies for the very first time.

Heartbeat International has championed our LOVE Approach Ultrasound training. Introduced in 2021,the LOVE Approach method to scanning is a new form of training that connects the technical needs and the spiritual needs for those working in pregnancy help to provide ultrasound training. We strongly encourage students unfamiliar with this approach to complete Heartbeat's refresher training to avoid confusion over variations in approach and terminology. Additionally please note that Heartbeat recognizes that, under the authority of their medical director, pregnancy medical clinics can implement policies and procedures unique to the communities that they serve. This course is designed to equip staff and volunteers in pregnancy help centers, maternity homes, and related life-affirming ministries with practical tools for supporting women who have experienced trauma. The training explores how trauma, especially adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), can influence pregnancy, parenting, and overall well-being, while offering biblically grounded strategies for fostering healing and resilience.

Students will learn the key principles of trauma-informed care as defined by SAMHSA, how trauma impacts brain development, stress response systems, pregnancy outcomes, and maternal-child bonding. Practical applications are reinforced through scenario-based learning and reflection questions.

This course is ideal for individuals working in pregnancy help organizations who want to increase their effectiveness in walking alongside women with trauma histories. It is particularly helpful for caregivers seeking both evidence-based knowledge and faith-rooted approaches to serve with compassion.

This course is intended for medical professionals gaining competence in reading ultrasound images. It includes a comprehensive review of images that are a result of limited obstetrical ultrasound exams in Pregnancy Centers. With the recommendations of professional societies, the modules have been created to use the technicalities of medicine as well as the uniqueness of Pregnancy Help Medical Clinics, molded together to give the mother the information she needs. Because some Medical Directors may perform hands-on scanning in their clinics at times, some of the information is intended for those actively scanning or for those who are instructing those who are scanning.
