Communications Manager
Short Description
The Communications Manager reports to the CEO but must work closely with, and under
the guidance of the Director of Marketing& Communications. The Director of Marketing
& Communications heads a public affairs agency engaged by AAPLOG and brings a very
high level of professional expertise to the organization’s communications efforts. With
his guidance, the Communications Manager is responsible for developing interviews,
tracking media hits, as well as researching and creating targeted lists of journalists
covering areas of interest to AAPLOG. The Communications Manager will also write
pitches, talking points, and social media posts, and communicate AAPLOG statements
and priorities to press, coalitions, and team members. The Communications Manager
must collaborate with the Advocacy Committee Chairperson and must have a variety of
writing experience, strong verbal and interpersonal communications stills, social media
skills, and familiarity working with the press. This position requires an employee to be
deeply pro-life, self-motivated, persistent, organized, work well under pressure, and have
an ability and willingness to meet tight deadlines.
