"This fits exactly how I want to practice medicine.
It’s evidence-based and rigorous.
It has integrity and incorporates God.
Medicine is fast, just like this week.
This is how medicine should be practiced."
- LAUC Attendee, July 2024
While there are various ultrasound trainings available for nurses and sonographers who work within the pregnancy help movement, Heartbeat International has championed a new form of training that connects the technical needs and the spiritual needs for those working in pregnancy help. The training is held in two parts: First, students complete an online ultrasound training* through Heartbeat International’s Academy, which meets the Association of Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) guidelines for didactic training, as well as completing 25 abdominal and 5-10 transvaginal limited obstetrical scans as a prerequisite** to prepare for the in-person training. Next, students come on-site to participate in an in-person scan lab experience with one-on-one instruction from educators who are also sonographers credentialed in RDMS (OB/GYN) and RNs who have multiple years of experience imaging in Pregnancy Help Clinics.
By combining the technical, practical, and spiritual elements into one pregnancy help medical training, trainees will work towards becoming equipped, qualified, and ready to scan within their center. (Looking for training for other Pregnancy Help staff? Click here!)
This Clinical will include:
- 50+ Scanning Drills
- Pregnant models of all gestations
- Unique L.O.V.E. Approach Method of imaging the preborn babies
- Competency scanning pathology is typically encountered in Limited Obstetric Diagnostic Ultrasound
- First simulation training offered nationally in the Pregnancy Help movement-
- Transvaginal instruction on simulation models
- Mastering skills by scanning a simulated ectopic pregnancy
- Image Reviews
- Spiritually focused instructional approach
- Case Studies
- How to introduce a mom to her baby for the very first time
- Skills Evaluations for those completing training
- Supportive team to reinforce your calling
*Heartbeat International will offer 20 Continuing Education Contact Hours for nurses for the didactic portion of training and 12 Continuing Education Contact Hours for nurses for the clinical portion of training. Heartbeat International is an approved provider through the California Board of Nursing, Provider Number 16061.
The focus of the clinical event is on repetition and volume, along with spiritual encouragement and reinforcement of techniques and knowledge gained from the didactic training. The ideal participant is someone who is self-motivated, and confident and needs a high volume of scans for training. This event is fast-paced and filled with drills, techniques, and one-on-one instruction from educators who are also sonographers credentialed in RDMS (OB/GYN) and RNs who have multiple years of experience imaging in Pregnancy Help Clinics. Each participant receives a skill evaluation by our instructors, however, Heartbeat

United for Life
The past few years have shown how resilient the pregnancy help movement is.
In 2020, we dramatically shifted our efforts to serve pregnant women and families during a worldwide pandemic. Our VISION never changed, though our processes did.
In 2021, we celebrated the frontline workers of pregnancy help, recognizing the perseverance and passion that kept our doors open while many closed because pregnancy help is ESSENTIAL.
In 2022, we saw how states pushed more aggressive abortion laws, and we understood that our work was even more important. In response, we pressed ONWARD, adapting our services to meet the new needs of women.
In 2023, we celebrated the BREAKTHROUGH we had with the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. With the issue of regulating abortion returned to each state, we knew there were new barriers we must BREAK THROUGH.
As we worked through these years of dramatic change, it has become more and more evident that to truly become a culture that values life as a movement, we must be intentionally UNITED FOR LIFE.
We were each called into the pregnancy help movement to save lives from the horrors of abortion. While our methods may differ, our mission is the same! We embrace this as our 2024 Annual Conference theme, remembering we are all UNITED FOR LIFE. This movement is bigger than any one of us. We must work together and stand strong against those who work so hard to break us apart. Divided, we fall, but united, we stand!
"...then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being united in spirit and purpose." Philippians 2:2

While we wish every affiliated individual could join us at the Conference, some of our friends and affiliates from outside the United States are not able to join us this year. 2025 Conference Theme
We announced the location of its 2025 Annual Pregnancy Help Conference at the close of our 2024 Conference! The location reveal is always highly anticipated by Conference attendees, and the announcement is made at the closing banquet for the event.
Our annual Conference is the largest gathering in the pregnancy help community. It is designed for ministry leaders, staff, board members, and volunteers of life-affirming pregnancy help centers, medical clinics, maternity homes, and non-profit adoption agencies, as well as professionals in the areas of medicine, counseling, social work, and education.
This year’s event, held in Salt Lake City, Utah, drew some 1,300 in attendance in person, and another 700 for the Virtual Conference.
The banquet room at the 2024 Conference erupted in cheers at the announcement of next year’s conference location: Birmingham, Alabama!
Announcing the city for the 2025 Pregnancy Help Conference, Heartbeat International President Jor-El Godsey said, “We went west, and now we’re going south!”
The reveal video featured quotes from Proverbs 27:17, “Iron sharpens iron” and “one person sharpens another” and ended with “Together Towards Tomorrow,” the 2025 Conference theme. Together Towards Tomorrow builds upon the 2024 theme of United for Life.
Citing the area’s historic nature and raw materials found at the 2025 Conference locale, the video presentation stated:
Rich in history and natural resources, where steel and iron are not only mined here but is symbolic of their strength and grit, next spring join us in Birmingham, Alabama. As iron sharpens iron, one person sharpens another – Together Towards Tomorrow.
"The 2025 Conference, themed "Together Towards Tomorrow," echoes our collective journey from unity to community, building on the foundation of 2024's "United for Life,"" she said. "Rooted in Proverbs 27:17 and set in the backdrop of the Iron City, Birmingham, AL, it signifies not just a location, but a shared commitment to growth through collaboration."
"The Annual Conference serves as a connecting point for pregnancy help organizations worldwide, offering a platform to exchange insights, embrace innovation, and uphold timeless principles," Trudden said. "Together, we glean wisdom, educate, and forge bonds that fortify our resolve to champion life."
