To some, informed consent is strictly a legislative issue, but Pregnancy Help Organizations have been successfully empowering women with informed consent for well over 25 years.  PHOs can and need to use this expertise in influencing legislation and educating law makers to draft and improve informed consent laws.

This hour long webinar will guide you through informed consent laws, the process to educate law makers and the community about the benefits of such laws, as well as ways these laws can benefit your Pregnancy Help Organization in reaching abortion minded women.

Valeska Barr has worked with women and families in crisis pregnancies for over twenty years.  Before becoming the Director at Hope Pregnancy Center she helped develop and run Pregnancy HopeLine, a 24 hour hotline for women in unplanned pregnancies, for eight years.  January 2013, Valeska became the consultant to the State Medical Board of Licensure and Supervision, overseeing the “A Woman’s Right to Know” informed consent law for the state of Oklahoma.  In addition to working with women, she has spent time at the State Capitol educating and encouraging legislators to pass pro-life laws.  She has been appointed by the Speaker of the House to serve as a commissioner on the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women.
