About the Presentation:

In this course the nurse/attendee will learn how to critique an ultrasound image to obtain an “interpretation ready” image with every study and key factors related to image optimization and patient outcomes. We will

  2. Evaluate technique
  3. Evaluate image readiness
  4. Learn how to develop a good method

  3. Identify key factors related to image optimization and patient outcomes.
  4. Develop an attitude and framework for self-directed evaluation

About the Presenter:

Connie Ambrecht RDMS, CMB is the President of Truth Link Now. She has more than 30 years of experience in providing ultrasound imaging exams in a mixture of settings including hospitals, private offices, mobiles units, as well as clinical instructing at the college level.

 

Outline:
1. Describe how to critique an ultrasound image
    a. Methods used to identify and evaluate normal anatomy
    b. Depth, Gain, Landmarks
    c. Critique images which demonstrate pathology
2. Describe how to obtain an "interpretation ready" image with every study
    a. Explain steps to use to develop good methodology in scanning routine:
        1. Is what I see on the image displayed clearly enough that my physician can diagnose with confidence?
         2. If I have to pull this scan in 1 month, 6 months a year, will I have any areas that I would feel were unclear or non-diagnostic?
         3. Does this image build my case for my summary or ultrasound report?
3. Identify key factors related to image optimization and patient outcomes.
    a. Develop a method for stating preliminary findings, documenting patients next step, and confirm patient understands what is next
    b. Determine if nursing diagnosis and preliminary Sonographic findings protect the patient.
