This three part series covers a History of Abortion on Demand in the US in three sessions.
Session 1: In this session, you’ll join Heartbeat Medical Specialist Susan Dammann, as we closely examine the early history of abortion, beginning with some surprising facts regarding the secret history of abortion from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries and going through to the tactics and influential people involved in leading up to the passing of Roe v. Wade. During the course of the presentation, we will look at the introduction of abortion laws in the US, as well as the Comstock Law banning birth control information and devices. You will also have the chance to learn more about some of the early feminists who fought for women’s equality while opposing abortion, as well as take a closer look at Margaret Sanger’s influence, philosophies, efforts, alliances, and of course the founding of Planned Parenthood.
Session 2: In the second part of the series, we will briefly examine the legal foundation of Abortion on Demand inthe United States. During this presentation, we will also discuss what procedures and drugs are used to perform abortions, look at the abortion providers including Planned Parenthood and their alliances, and examine the multi-faceted ramifications throughout our society. We will find out who is having abortions and why, the cost, insurance coverage, and trends moving forward.
Session 3: In the final part of the series, you will join Susan Dammann as she takes an in-depth look into the ramifications Abortion on Demand has had on women and men in our society, including some surprising statistics. We will discuss both the emotional complications as well as many physical complications which can result, and resources for support and recovery.
