The Steps to Sexual Health series is a comprehensive approach for dealing with sexual trauma, sexual abuse and sexual misuse. This video series comes with a journal which is a way for you to help your clients to process.

Sexual Trauma, as defined in the series, can be caused by relationships that are sexually unhealthy or coerced. An example is a 14-year-old who is involved with a 19-year-old. This is not “equitable” or healthy, because there is obviously subtle coercion going on.

Sexual Abuse, as defined in the series, involves unwanted or coerced sexual involvement and can include all extremes of abuse, such as abuse from relatives or strangers, violence, etc.

Sexual Misuse is based on the concept that any sexual involvement outside of marriage violates women (and men). When sex happens outside of this protected and blessed environment, we get hurt, and that experience changes our view of ourselves and God.

All three of these issues are addressed in this video series.

The concept for this series came from the realization of the following:

  • Any woman who has had a sexual relationship outside of marriage is in a sense “broken” or lacking Sexual Integrity™.
  • Many women who seek help for a potential unplanned pregnancy have been sexually abused. (One estimate (by Dr. Dan Allender) is that over 70% of women who come to pregnancy resource centers have been sexually abused or traumatized.)
  • Many women need healing from the misuse of sex outside of God’s plan to help them restore their Sexual Integrity™.
  • Women who have been hurt sexually have a difficult time changing their behavior until they receive healing.
